DefinTAY BSL Video
Learn more about the DefinTAY Project and the specialist, trauma-informed advocacy available to Deaf women and girls experiencing gender-based violence.
The service offers support in BSL and works with partner agencies across Dundee, Perth and Kinross, and Angus.
What we offer
The DefinTAY Project provides dedicated, trauma-informed advocacy for Deaf women and girls who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, gender-based violence or domestic abuse.
Delivered by Deaf Links, the project works in partnership with Dundee Women's Aid, Perth Women's Aid, and WRASAC Dundee and Angus so Deaf women and girls can access specialist support in their own language and without barriers.

- Qualified Independent Domestic Abuse Advisors (IDAAs)

How the service works
Our team helps you understand your rights and options, and supports you to stay safe and regain control. We identify risk, harm or danger and work closely with partner agencies to put immediate safeguarding measures in place.
Deaf women are twice as likely to experience gender-based violence, yet only 25% know who to contact in an abusive situation. DefinTAY exists to change this through support at the right time, in the right language.
Service user feedback: "The ability to communicate with someone in my own language, who is Deaf aware and has the understanding and skills to support me has been amazing!!"
